More than 200 Conroe ISD teachers receive pay raises through the district’s expanded Teacher Incentive Allotment Program, which aims to recruit and retain high-performing educators at economically disadvantaged campuses.
The district's expanded Teacher Incentive Allotment Program is providing pay bonuses to over 200 Conroe ISD teachers. The program is designed to retain staff at economically disadvantaged campuses and reward high-performing educators. It is a component of a statewide initiative established six years ago and enables certain teachers to receive salaries in the six-figure range.
Terral Jackson, the coordinator for the program at Conroe ISD, reported that 267 teachers and 26 campuses are presently engaged. "This program is designed to recruit, retain, and reward top-performing teachers at our highest-needs campuses," Jackson said.
The program was initiated in 2019 as part of House Bill 3, passed by Texas legislators. It was designed to address the challenge of retaining high-quality educators in regions with limited resources. In the years ahead, Conroe ISD intends to further develop the program by incorporating additional campuses and educators.
The district aims to maintain its dedication to academic excellence and student success by providing financial incentives to attract and retain talented educators in classrooms that require their expertise.
