Texas Voter Registration Deadline Approaches for November Election

Texans are reminded that the deadline to register to vote is October 7, as the November 5 general election approaches. Eligible electors have the opportunity to participate in significant elections, such as the presidential race and various statewide offices, as well as local propositions and tax changes, contingent upon their location.

Individuals may consult the website of the Texas Secretary of State to verify their voter registration status. A paper application must be submitted by individuals who require registration. This application can be downloaded, printed, signed, and mailed to a county election office. Online voter registration is prohibited in Texas, with the exception of revisions that are conducted through the Department of Public Safety.

To be eligible for registration, Texans must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old by Election Day, reside in the county in which they apply, and not have been declared mentally incapacitated by a court. Voting rights may be reinstated for convicted felons upon the completion of their sentence, probation, and parole.

Important dates include: 

October 7 -  The final day to register or update information 

October 21      -  The commencement of early in-person voting 

October 25      -  The final day to apply for a mail-in ballot 

November 1     -  The conclusion of early voting 

November 5     -  Election Day
