Houston Developer Acquires 388-Acre Montgomery County Community, Renames It Briarley

After being acquired by Houston-based developer Johnson Land Ventures, a 388-acre residential complex in Montgomery County is experiencing a significant makeover. Originally Redbird Meadow, the area has been renamed Briarley and intends to have a mix of luxury residences and reasonably sized lots.

An arm of Johnson Development Corp., Johnson Land Ventures has bought 200 acres of the project and intends to buy the other 185 acres over the next year and a half. Designed to appeal to purchasers looking for larger houses with more room, Briarley's first phase will include 286 residences on a range of lot sizes.

Michael Cox, president of Johnson Land Ventures, said, "We expect Briarley to draw move-up buyers looking for a larger home and property." "Its location near Montgomery High School and downtown Montgomery will be a plus; those who enjoy the water will value the onsite lakes and surrounding Lake Conroe."

Following permit and plot approvals, the development first broke ground in September 2023. Starting this spring, home sales are anticipated, with prices ranging from the $400,000s to the $700,000s.

Johnson Land Ventures has chosen five builders for the first phase to help bring the community to life. Perry Homes and Chesmar Homes will build homes on 60-foot lots; Perry and Highland Homes will develop 70-foot sites. David Weekley Homes and J. Patrick Homes will develop on the bigger 80-foot lots.

Among the active communities under Johnson Land Ventures is Briarley. Along with Nolina, a freshly established neighborhood in Georgetown, the business also supervises Amira in Tomball and Candela in Richmond.

Briarley is positioned to become a sought-after residential destination in Montgomery County because to its strategic location, roomy house designs, and proximity to important conveniences.
